Spencer Klug
Spencer is a Calgary-based associate at McMillan LLP whose practice spans restructuring and insolvency as well as complex financings. He advises banks, financial institutions, borrowers, and court officers on court-supervised restructurings and security enforcement, with experience across CCAA proceedings, receiverships, liquidations, and distressed and asset-based lending.
A member of Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, Spencer co-founded and leads McMillan’s Indigenous Affinity Group and participates in the firm’s formal mentorship program for summer and articling students. Outside the firm, he engages with industry associations aligned to his restructuring and finance practice.
Spencer is honoured to participate in the Indigenous Leadership Circle. He brings a particular interest in Indigenous youth and young professionals, shaped by years of involvement in youth groups and summer camps and his own lived experience as an Indigenous youth raised in government care.
Spencer holds a JD (Distinction) from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) with a minor in Sociology.
