Joshua Favel

Joshua Favel is Plains Cree (Nêhiyaw) from Poundmaker Cree Nation. He was born in Saskatoon, raised in Calgary, and completed his BA at the University of British Columbia, his JD at the University of Toronto, and his LLM at the University of Cambridge. He’s now a corporate and commercial lawyer at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, where he works with Indigenous communities and their businesses on legal and economic development projects, and supports industry clients on major commercial matters involving Indigenous interests. His practice centres on corporate structuring, transactions, governance, and negotiating significant agreements. Before this role, he practiced at a national firm in Toronto, a boutique Indigenous law firm, and taught at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law. Outside of work, he usually distance running, reading about history, or working on his French.
